About me
Who we are
I am a barrister and solicitor and the owner of Watson Estates, a law firm that focuses exclusively in estates: planning, administration, litigation. This includes matters to do with powers of attorney and guardianships. I have appeared at the Superior Court of Justice, and the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
A proud Hamiltonian, I completed my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at McMaster University majoring in history with an interest in legal philosophy.
I obtained my Bachelor of Laws at the City University of London (now City St. George’s, University of London), in England, graduating in 2015. While in law school I enjoyed contributing to various pro-bono initiatives, frequenting London’s many museums, and working at my pub job. After law school, I returned to my hometown of Hamilton where I worked for a general practitioner as a law student while completing the National Committee of Accreditation examinations. After receiving accreditation, I articled in the areas of criminal law and family law before winding up in estates.
I joined Dermody Law as an associate shortly after being called to the bar in January 2017 where I had the opportunity to begin building my estates practice under leadership of William P. Dermody. In June 2018, Dermody Law merged with a prominent full-service law firm in Hamilton where I remained until deciding to start Watson Estates in 2025.
I volunteer with the Hamilton Council on Aging, a charity that promotes the health, well-being and social participation of older adults, where I sit on the Board of Directors and serve as Chair of the Sustainability Committee. I am also on the Estates &Trusts Sub-committee of the Hamilton Law Association and a member of the Estate Planners’ Council of Hamilton.
In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, kickboxing, listening to podcasts, and spending time with my husband and two cats.
